CPS collects personal information that we believe is necessary to deliver our services or products or otherwise for our primary business functions and/or activities.
We only collect information about you when you provide it to us or it is provided to us with your authority.
CPS only collects personal information by lawful and fair means and not in an unreasonably intrusive way.
CPS respects your right to privacy, and your right not to provide us with certain information requested and you are under no obligation to do so, however if you chose not to provide us with the information requested by us it may impact the type and or level of services or advice we can provide you.
Use of information
The types of personal information we collect and use generally includes:
• your name and address, telephone number, email address,
• your personal profile which includes details of your investment objectives, financial circumstances, income, net worth, existing investments, age, occupation and information about your risk tolerance, in order to provide you with appropriate Financial Product Advice
• Other contact or identification details and, in some cases, information necessary to make or receive payments to or from you or necessary to effect transactions in financial products on your behalf.
• On occasions, we may collect personal information about you from third parties, for example, share registries, ASIC, ASX or credit reporting agencies.
• From time to time we would like to be able to use your contact details to tell you about seminars services and new offers. If you do not wish to receive this information, please contact us as set out above.
• If at any time you supply us with personal information about another person, you must ensure that you are authorised to do so and you must agree to inform that person who we are, that we will use and disclose that personal information, and that they may gain access to it should we hold that information.
Disclosure to other parties
• You authorise CPS to disclose necessary information to related companies, affiliates and any agents or contractors who provide services to us in connection with the provision of products or services you have sought from us. o In some cases, we may need to provide your personal information to a party that is outside of Australia. If we do not believe the overseas party is subject to privacy obligations, we will seek your consent to transfer the information, unless the National Privacy Principles do not require us to.
o Our privacy policy extends to our website. If you use a link from the CPS website which takes you to another website, the third party will be responsible for informing you of their privacy policy.
Document Storage and Data Security Policies
Your personal information is held in hard copy in your client file and electronically in our computer data base. We will seek to ensure the personal information collected and held by us is protected from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
Your information is treated as confidential. All hard copy records received are scanned and the hard copies are sent externally to offsite secure confidential storage at a reputable document management provider. We maintain a register of all documents stored offsite.
All electronic records maintained by CPS are password protected through the use of access passwords. Data is backed up regularly and secured of site for a period of 7 years to comply with the requirements under our ASL, after this time documents may be destroyed.

There are circumstances where we may refuse to allow you access to your personal information if required by law or other restriction, if we do we will provide you with the reason for denying you access.
Access and correction
The information provided by you will be recorded by us. In the event that you become aware or believe that Personal Information which we hold about you is inaccurate, superseded or incomplete, please contact us and provide us with the updated information. We may require evidence to verify the notified changes.
How to make a privacy complaint.
To make a complaint about a breach of this privacy policy or the National Privacy Principals, you should contact us by email or telephone or in writing and address your compliant to the CPS Privacy Officer. Your complaint will be dealt with in accordance with our ComplaintsHandling Policy. If the complaint is not resolved to your satisfaction, or handled to your satisfaction you may contact the office of Australian Information Commissioner who has responsibility for privacy complaints under the Privacy Act.
